Every Spring our yard and fields fill with wild violets. These amazingly deep purple flowers are not only gorgeous but they are also edible. We pick these delectable flowers for the purpose of making violet simple syrup in order to make the most amazing lemonade your eye’s will ever behold and your tongue will ever taste. When we have an abundance of violets like this year we make as much violet simple syrup as we can for use in leaner times. We take a large mason jar and stuff it as full as we can. We then add boiling water and steep overnight. You then strain and measure how much liquid you have. Using that measurement I make simple syrup (equal parts violet water and sugar).
