Rachel Mohler

is an award winning professional artist and homeschooling mom living in Sabillasville Maryland where she shares a 23 acre homestead with her husband and 3 children. Rachel has 30 years of experience teaching drawing to children and adults in both private and group settings. She has a passion for using her skills in everything from recording her observations of nature in her sketchbooks to putting down the comppstion in her paintings. Unlike simply taking a photo, when you put pencil to paper you strengthen the hand/brain connection and engage your brain in a way that helps you fully live in the moment.

Rachel firmly believes that anyone can learn to draw if they are simply shown the “drawing alphabet” and are encouraged to put pencil to paper.

In the fall of 2016, Rachel, her husband and 3 small children moved to the mountain in Sabillasville Maryland.Rachel has always been an admirer of Beatrix Potter and her love of nature and animals. The way she could illustrate the simplest little stories and make you fall in love with everything from a prickly hedgehog to a field mouse fascinated her. The nature illustrations Beatrix made of things like fungus and botan The fact that she never had children of her own and that she obtained her own farm “Hill Top” at the age of 40 made Rachel fall in love with her all over again. Beatrix became acals has lead i sheep farmer and painted during the winter months when things were slow. “We bought UpTop Farm when I was just shy of my own 40th trip birthday and while we have yet to put sheep on our property due to lack of fencing, I have great plans to one day look out my window and paint them all winter.”Rachel’s little family of five does its best to live slow and intentionally. They observe nature and try to follow her lead and celebrate the seasons and learn all we can from her. Follow along as Rachel paints, plants and ponders the wonders around her.
